Cozy Doula

My name is Mia Gertsch, I live in Kirkland, Washington and service the greater Seattle area and beyond for home, birth center or hospital births.

I am a Certified Birth Doula CD(PALS), a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist that specializes with birthing persons that have Anxiety, PTSD, past sexual or birth trauma. I have advanced training in when survivors give birth. I also teach personalized private hypnobirth childbirth education. 

I have been “your friendly neighborhood doula” for 18 years now supporting birthing people and their partners before, during and after birth. 

I became a solely professional Birth Doula after a series of unfortunate events at each of my own births progressively left me feeling isolated and confused. With multiple doctors and midwives coming in and out, nurses that you connect with changing shifts, and my husband not knowing what to do, I realized even though I knew what to do for others nobody knew what to do for me and truly what more people needed and what I really needed was one person to be there for me, who knew my needs and preferences even in the heat of the moment, and knew the birthing process, and knew my partner and their needs. I sought to focus all my efforts into becoming that personal advocate, to answer questions and give suggestions and who will be there no matter what. 

I am always present to explain what is happening, what the birthing persons options are, what we can do next, what the partner can do to help and to advocate for the birthing persons wishes. I absolutely love answering any and all questions and want to keep open communication at all times. 

In my personal life, I have a background in Culinary and Nutrition.

I have three children, oldest child Eve (18), middle kiddo Dante (11), and youngest Penny (6), challenge me to grow and learn everyday along with my loving husband Johnny. I  have a mini zoo of pets at home from dogs to cats to snakes and more! I spend my free time playing D&D and console games, crafting and creating art, and generally being a big Star Wars geek and HUGE birth nerd!
